074/365 – sunny game

074/365 - sunny game

My budget has always been too tight for golf, so the only time I get to play is when my mom invites me. Understanding my situation and being a very generous individual, she pays for my cart and green fees. And today was a beautiful day for us to go. The sunshine and the game did us good.

We got some very good news today and celebrated at Cantina Laredo. And it turned out to be ladies’ night, so margaritas were half price…even better.

072/365 – self-improvement

072/365 - self-improvement

Yesterday, Brian loaned me his book “48 Days to the Work You Love.” I’m only 2 chapters in and I can already tell this is a book I wish I could have read when I was in college. I’ve never had a solid direction in my professional life, but in 48 days I’ll never feel lost in my career again.

On top of that, I’ve started my Total Money Makeover by shunning my credit cards and preparing for the cash system. I think I’m going to do a separate blog of my financial journey from now until I’m debt free, which would hopefully provide me with a great support system, and give others in my situation a story to follow so they see they’re not alone and the situation is not hopeless.

I’ve been staring off at a lot of walls this last week. Today was some of the same.

068/365 - financial peace

WOW! I was blown away at Dave Ramesy’s Total Money Makeover LIVE! seminar. I’ve listened to him on the radio & seen his tv show, but I had no idea of what an inspirational speaker he is.

In the summer of 2008, I read his book & started to follow some of the methods for getting out of debt, but when I moved to the Hill Country I just stopped. Now I’m pumped up to go full force on it!

I’m giving a shout out to Brian, who first introduced me to Dave Ramsey, and a huge thank you to Stacy and Andrianne for taking me to the seminar. Let’s do this!

067/365 - meet & greet

Met up with a friend and some of her coworkers at the Texas Bar & Grill in Las Colinas. I was only planning on happy hour, but they were so much fun I ended up being there 5 hours. If I wasn’t going to a Dave Ramsey seminar in the morning, I probably would have stayed till close.

066/365 - swinging in mud

My mom treated me to 18 holes today at Grand Oaks Golf Club in Grand Prairie. The soggy conditions almost yanked my shoe off on one hole and added about 10 strokes to my average game of 100+ strokes, which took me from “sucky golfer” to “why do you even bother.” But as frustrating as it was, “a bad day on the golf course is better than a good day at work,” or something to that affect. Sometimes I wonder…

Three dogs in one house with hardwood floors equals the need to dust-mop every other day. I was also instructed that I should post a photo from my first ever visit to the Fox and Hound in Lewisville, but I again forgot my camera. That did not stop good times from being had.
